How To Be Immune To Sunburn

The current temperature in Portsmouth UK is 22℃.  I honestly can not remember the last time it was this hot over a long period of time.
According to the MET office we have a heatwave round the corner. It looks like the sun is here to stay; how to be immune to sunburn is the main question.

Unfortunately humans do not have any specific antibodies to ensure we are immune to sunburn. However they are a few steps and precaution we can take to avoid severe skin damage.

How To Be Immune To Sunburn

1. Avoid being directly under the sun when the sun rays are strongest this is between 11am and 3pm.

2. Wear suitable clothing; close weave fabric, hats and sunglasses.

3. Apply a generous amount of sunscreen before going out. Ensure the sunscreen protects against both UVA and UVB.
Sunscreens are rated with a sun protection factor (SPF). The SPF protects against UVB; these are the short wave rays that causes skin burning. UVA are responsible for deep skin damage leading to aging and skin cancer.

4. Protect the eyes and avoid looking directly at the sun. Yes sunburn can occur on the surface of the eyes.

Using the combination of the above points, we are able to enjoy the lovely summer weather safely.
