Pharmacy Technicians have core responsibilities to ensure effective and efficient us of medicines and work in various sectors from Care Homes, GP Surgeries, Community Pharmacies to Hospitals, and Prison. The Pharmacy Technician role is constantly evolving providing various career paths to explore.

Pharmacy Technician are asked to play a clinical, technical and administrative role and it has shown to have positive results in the Healthcare sector.

Some Duties and Responsibilities of Pharmacy Technician: 

  1. Work with the PCN multi-disciplinary team to ensure efficient medicine optimisation, including implementing efficient ordering and return processes and reducing wastage.
  2. Undertake and participate in medication history taking and refer any discrepancies to the community pharmacist or GP as necessary.
  3. Counsel patients on their medication during admission and prior to discharge, providing
    information on dosage, use and side effects in order to facilitate concordance and safe and effective
    use of their medicine.

    My name is Netsanet Assefa
    I have got Level 3 Diploma in pharmacy technician but I didn’t register as a pharmacy technician. So can I work as a pharmacy technician?
