Medicine Cabinet Essentials Summer Edition. Combined by an experienced community pharmacist based on product sales during the summer months.
1. Antihistamine: Chlorphenamine, Cetirizine and or Loratadine
This is the most requested item throughout the summer months. Bites and stings are almost unavoidable. It is fine to use the cream and tablet at the same time. Applying the cream topically will sooth the bite site and provide instant relief.
2. Analgesic: Paracetamol, Ibuprofen and or Aspirin
The hot weather walks in hand with headaches, high temperatures and general aches. These three painkillers are effective in relieving this symptoms.
Aspirin should not be used in children under the age of 16.
3. Sunscreen

4. Anti-diarrhoea: Loperamide and or Oral Rehydration Therapy
During the summer months, there is a spike in diarrhoea. This could be as a result of increase in sugary drinks/ice lollies or the heat causing increase in water absorption in the bowel.
5. Thermometer
With the hot weather it is difficult to establish the body temperature.
6. Antiseptic cream & Plasters
The weather is good, everyone is out and playing, cleaning and relaxing in the garden. An increase in minor cuts and falls is observed.
Remember: Medicine must be stored up and away and out of the reach and sight of children.
Date check medicine cabinet regularly.
