New Role Alert: Primary Care Network Clinical Pharmacist
I started a new role Primary Care Network Clinical Pharmacist. It is exciting and terrifying at the same time. It is such a strange and uncertain time to start a new role but it has been a very knowledgeable and insightful experience.
I have now completed my two-week induction and honestly I must admit It was intense.
I carried my anxiety like a little purse along with me.
Anxious I will go blank when asked a clinical question, I was anxious I will not remember or understand the General Practice processes or even remember my name. It is amazing how much information the brain can retain. In two weeks, I completed training on Safeguarding, Information Governance, Health and Safety, Basic Emis. I spent time with the Care Home team, Frailty team and the housebound team.
What helped me was constantly reminding myself to focus on each day, each task only, one step at a time.
In my short time as PCN Clinical Pharmacist, I have so far undertaken medication reviews with patients, requested necessary blood monitoring for medications, support care home nurses, handled repeat prescription queries and completed a cost saving project.
I am excited to see how my role will evolve in the coming weeks and months.
I will sure keep you all posted.
