6-Year-Old Boy Denied Medicinal Cannabis Licence by UK Government.
Home Office denied the request for a medicinal cannabis licence for a 6-year-old boy to control his rare form of epilepsy.
Alfie Dingley, from Kenilworth in Warwickshire, went to Netherlands to take a cannabis oil medication. Alfie was said to have responded to treatment. There was a decrease in seizures severity and frequency. Unfortunately Alfie can not carry on with the treatment at home here in the UK.
Cannabis is a schedule 1 drug in the UK and thought to have no therapeutic value hence it is illegal. The Home Office said the drug “can not be practically prescribed, administered or supplied to the public”. “The Home Office would not issue a licence to enable the personal consumption of a Schedule 1 drug.”
Home Office is concerned about the safety, quality and efficacy of medicinal cannabis oil as the first duty of the government is to keep citizen safe and the country secure.
